The Connect-R project is an Innovate UK-funded initiative aimed at developing an industrial-scale, self-building modular robotic solution for hazardous environments, particularly in nuclear decommissioning
As the project lead at Ross Robotics, I guided the Multi-Task Bot (MTB) from initial design to final prototype. Design of the electro-mechanical subsystems for a concept that has never been proposed in the past proved to be quite a challenge, but I am proud to have produced the patented design of the Multi-Task Bot (patent)
The Connect-R system is designed to autonomously construct scaffolding structures in irradiated environments, enabling robots like the MTB to traverse and perform tasks such as repairs and inspections
My responsibilities included overseeing the electro-mechanical design, ensuring seamless integration with the self-building structures, and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and partner organizations.
This project not only advanced robotic solutions for hazardous environments but also enhanced my project management and technical skills, contributing to the growth and success of Ross Robotics.
